Covid-19 frontline workers honored in new PH stamps

MANILA – As a fitting tribute to Philippine frontline medical workers in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic, the Philippine Postal Corporation has released on Monday, 13 July 2020, special postage stamps dedicated to the new national heroes.

The Philpost said the stamps symbolizes the country’s tribute to Filipino frontline heroes for doing their jobs and risking their lives to save others in the fight against coronavirus.

The colorful stamps have a theme: “We fight for you, Frontline Heroes, fighting against coronavirus.”

It ably illustrates Filipino workers involved in the battle against Covid-19 which include doctors, medical staff, military, police, delivery crew, supermarket workers, and food personnel.

The souvenir stamps feature the iconic artwork depicting modern-day “masked superheroes” in blue color, which symbolizes stability and responsibility.

“This postage stamp is our simple way of uplifting and boosting their morals and making them feel that their sacrifices are not left unnoticed,” Postmaster General Joel Otarra said.

PHLPost has printed 200,000 pieces of eight (8) different frontline heroes featured in the regular stamps to be sold at 12 pesos each. The stamps were designed by in-house graphic artist Rodine Teodoro.

A special 5,000 pieces of the limited collector’s edition of the souvenir stamps with a denomination of P55 each will also be released.

As Philpost resumed services it has prioritized the safety of Philippine mail under new schedules.

The postal office also accepts stamp orders from home and delivered right at the doorstep through its innovative “Stamp on Wheels.” (MTVN)
