A group of priests, nuns, lawyers, and peace advocates came as “One Voice” Friday (23 July 2020) as they filed a joint petition urging the Supreme Court to repeal the Anti-Terror Law (RA 11479).

It was the 18th petition so far before women’s group Gabriella also came forward with another request (19th) against the implementation of the said law that President Duterte signed on July 3, 2020.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson, main author of RA 11479, and Senate President Tito Sotto both countered the claims of groups opposing its implementation saying the anti-terror law has with it enough safety nets on human rights.

Still, the anti-ATL groups prayed for SC’s intervention and to junk the said law for its unconstitutionality and violation of fundamental rights and freedom.
