TRECE MARTIRES CITY — Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla on Friday, July 24, ordered the suspension of operations of SM City Trece Martires branch here “until further notice,” citing violations of the province’s quarantine policies.

In his Facebook page, Remulla said the suspension was the result of the July 22 mall inspection conducted by undercover police, upon his orders, to check if malls are complying with quarantine rules.

“Isang video ang aking natanggap kung saan makikita ang direktang paglabag ng SM City Trece Martires sa Q-Pass Policy ng Cavite (I received a video showing SM City Trece Martires’ direct violation of Cavite’s Q-Pass Policy),” the governor said.

Remulla stressed that Cavite, which is under general community quarantine (GCQ), continues to enforce the Quarantine Pass or Q-Pass system to limit the number of people outside their homes and curb the transmission of the coronavirus.

“Guidelines are meant to put order into controlling the pandemic situation. For those who think that the worst is over, you are mistaken. It is going to get worse before things get better,” Remulla said.

It was learned that Cavite has over 1,000 coronavirus cases.

In a statement also issued on Friday, SM City Trece Martires said it will comply with Remulla’s order.

“We will immediately discuss the corrective measures with the local government unit, so we can quickly reopen the mall to serve all our customers,” it added.
