Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has no choice but to order the temporary closure of the Ospital ng Maynila in Malate starting 2.01 Friday, 31 July 2020 until 09 August 2020 after an alarming increase in numbers of infected hospital staff of coronavirus was detected.
In a press briefing, thorough sanitation and identification of infected front-liners are to be conducted during the whole lockdown period.
At least 15 staff members of the hospital were confirmed to have contacted the disease while 73 more await test results and are confirmed to have been in contact with patients confirmed positive with Covid-19.
During the lockdown, new patient admissions are to be redirected to five other city government hospitals except for emergencies Domagoso said. (BENJAMIN CUARESMA)
