MANILA – Amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), a Catholic prelate on Friday has issued a prayer for the faithful and asked parishioners to always wear face masks.
“Let us wear constantly and consistently our face masks. They are our frontline protections and essential preventive measures against this Covid19 pandemic,” Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos said in a Facebook post.
“As we wear them let us also always pray. And we pray this…,” the Bataan prelate added.
Oh sweet Jesus, my Lord and my God.
You are our protector.
You are our provider.
As you “breath on them” (John 28,22), Your disciples,
You give them the Holy Spirit.
You recreate them.
You renew them.
As I now wear my face mask,
keep me safe and well-protected from what is in the air.
Let me not be contaminated.
Let my health not be compromised.
With your grace and guidance
Let me be refreshed and purified.
Let me breather “the breath of life” (Genesis 2,7).
Put on me, o almighty God, my face mask as my “full armor of God” (Ephesians 6,11) and as my “shield of faith” (v16) that I may breathe in Your Spirit and I may speak of love and of life.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Saint Joseph, pray for us.
Saint Raphael the Archangel, pray for us.
The wearing of face masks and face shields are part of the health guidelines by the government to protect the people from contracting and spreading Covid-19.
Beginning August 15, commuters will be required to wear face shields in public transport. (PNA)
