TV5 network reclaims its position as a contender for the top position in the country’s broadcast industry with the new partnership between the long-running broadcast institution and Cignal TV, the country’s top pay TV provider, which would be its major block timer, President and CEO of TV5 Robert Galang and Director Perci Intalan announced recently.

The new partnership aims to redefine the entertainment scene by offering top-notch shows and talents that can greatly boost TV5’s re-programming goals which have been an ongoing plan since late 2019, and now bolstered by Cignal TV’s other digital assets.

“We are revving up our entertainment content creation and will need creatives, talents, directors, scriptwriters, cameramen, etc.,” Cignal TV and TV5 Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said. According to the Chairman, if they are willing and able to work with the network, then TV5

and Cignal TV are prepared to offer alternative jobs for the relevant displaced workers over time, a clear sign that they are more than ready to welcome new people and program ideas into its fold.

“We are open to everybody— independent producers, line producers, co-producers, blocktimers,” Direk Perci intoned.

He explained that TV5 is in a very interesting situation, in a democratizing process, giving equal opportunity to all, open to all who want to collaborate with the network.

“With the pandemic, we need to innovate and I know that at this time, lalabas ang creativity, this is the opportunity to innovate, necessity is a matter of intention.

“There is no way to go back to the ‘old-ruled book,’ we want to innovate, that’s what we need to do. In our shows, we want to celebrate the lives of the Filipinos, that’s what we want to do at the moment. We can also do financial assistance in the form of entertainment.

“We want to be the ‘Network of the New Normal,’ giving our viewers fresh, quality, uplifting and inspiring shows,”  Direk Perci further stated.

Galang also explained, “Our commitment is to celebrate the lives of today’s Filipinos by providing informative as well as inspiring and uplifting entertainment content, and hopefully, in so doing, we are able to make lives, a little better, a little safer, and a little easier in these changing

times.”

TV5 CEO also narrated that the events going in the network are not because of the ABS CBN shutdown. As mentioned, they have been in the process of reprogramming as early as 2019, even before the pandemic, only this time, they are just excited, more ambitious and more aggressive. “Lumawak ang plano, dumami ang gagawin na mas makabubuti sa industriya, magbukas ng shows na mahahalaga. It is bongga enough to really excite us, the opportunities are tremendous.”

He also admitted that there have been exploratory talks with ABS CBN people, answering inquiries, there are those who are knocking at their door.

Being the programming head, Direk Perci denied that they offered the airing of Coco Martin’s “Ang Probinsiyano” on TV5. “We did not consider that because we know that their show is still ongoing at the Kapamilya channel.”  He also made it clear that there was no Vice Ganda offer, “Walang nakarating sa akin na ganyan. And I know Vice Ganda has his own digital network. Neither is the P3-M talent fee because their focus is on the whole cost of the show on blocktime and not on the talent fee per se of the artist.

A major new asset is the NBA that is now available live on Cignal TV as well as TV5 and One Sports. “The NBA coming to Cignal TV and TV5 only strengthens our position of bringing the best sports to our Filipino viewers throughout the country,” Galang said.

Coming this August 15, 2020, TV5 is launching its first wave of interesting mix of lifestyle programs and game shows hosted by various artists with proven versatility and mass appeal. Its new morning show called Chika, BESH! (Basta Everyday Super Happy) brings together winsome movie and TV personalities Pokwang, Pauleen Luna, and Ria Atayde. In the fitness-centric show Fit for Life, actress-host Jessy Mendiola will draw from her own fitness transformation journey in inspiring viewers to

commit to a healthier lifestyle.

You can have  intimate conversations and real life talk on Usapang Real Life with Luchi Cruz-Valdez. Two new game shows will be headlined by loveable comedians — Wally Bayola and Paolo Ballesteros for Bawal na Game

Show; Jose Manalo and Pokwang for Fill in the Bank – with both shows promising loads of fun and prizes.

Coming back on TV5 is Bangon Talentadong Pinoy, which aims to reflect the creativity of Filipino artists regardless of the current situation and will be hosted again by Ryan Agoncillo who will be joined by talent scouts John Arcilla, Janice de Belen and Joross Gamboa in the pilot episode.

Direk Perci also emphasized that they are not going to launch simultaneous shows because as he has learned in the past, “malulula ang mga tao  at di na malaman kung aling ang unang panonoorin. Hindi na ganyan ang programa ngayon.  So there will be first wave launch, second wave launch and the next.

Coming from an internationally awarded filmmaker, producer, writer Direk Perci Intalan knows whereof he speaks and with CEO Robert P. Galang who has decades of experience in the broadcast media, telecommunications, and consumer durables, Cignal TV’s nation-wide reach and technological prowess combined with the innovative and creative nature which TV5 has been known for all these years would be an exciting package for Pinoy viewers.

With TV5, which is now known as One TV, the coming days on TV viewing is best described in its tagline—ONEderful!
