COTABATO farmers from Mindanao has utilized their craftsmanship during these hard times by creating not just ordinary but awesome and eco-friendly face shields—made of bamboo.
Just recently, Mindanao Development Authority chairperson Manny Pinol proudly shared in his Facebook page some photos of the bamboo face shields and farmers working hard at producing them.
The bamboo face shields are handmade by members of the Central Mindanao Green Workers Association, and designed by Agricultural Engineer Junroe Barrios from M’lang, Cotabato, according to Pinol.
And the good news is, it only costs P80 per piece.
Pinol also said that the group is just starting the enterprise, with the Cotabato farmers all working from home. They need all the support they can get to establish a formal and orderly manufacturing area, complete with working tables, stripping and sanitary equipment.
Pinol added that you just don’t wear a face shield in style but you also help the small farmers make a living this pandemic time. As the Department of Transportation (DOTr) released a Memorandum Circular last week, mandating the use of face shields — on top of wearing face masks — in any mode of public transportation service effective August 15, 2020, this move is certainly a welcome news.
