MANILA – Nationwide infections of the coronavirus disease in the Philippines rose to 139,538 on Tuesday, 11 August 2020 after the Department of Health registered an additional 2,987 confirmed cases.
That number was only half to that recorded a day earlier, a new high record of 6,958 infections.
The country’s number of active cases stood at 68,794—91.6% of which were mild cases.
Among Southeast Asian Nations, the Philippines now leads the way with the most number of coronavirus infections.
Next to PH is Indonesia with 127,083; followed by Singapore, 55,292; Malaysia, 9,094; Thailand, 3,351; Vietnam, 841; Myanmar, 360; Cambodia, 251; Brunei, 142; Laos, 20.
Recoveries, meantime in the country increased to 68,432 after 280 additional survivors were recorded.
But the death toll also rose to 2,312 after 19 more patients succumbed to the virulent illness.
The National Capital Region in under modified enhanced community quarantine until August 18, 2020 together with neighboring areas of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal and Bulacan.
Worldwide, the coronavirus disease already impacted at least 20 million individuals and has killed more than 734,000 people.
