Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla

SILANG, Cavite — “Corruption has never been compulsory,” Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla quoted former United Kingdom Prime Minister Anthony Eden as he called on Friday for the imprisonment of those proven guilty in the reeking corruption at the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
The governor noted that with the two houses of Congress conducting their investigations in aid of legislation on Philheath graft mess, it has been ascertained that the plunder allegedly committed could reach more than P15 billion.
He pointed out that those who were found conniving with the “corrupt” PhilHealth executives should also be meted penalty.
He bewailed that the PhilHealth is nearing bankruptcy as the country’s economy fell into recession for the first time in 29 years with more than 46% or 27.3 million jobless.
Acknowledging that PhilHealth is one of the few pillars that the Filipinos are counting on to fund the battle against COVID-19, the governor emphatically asked: “Don’t you think these corrupt PhilHealth officials deserve a fate far worse than the targets of the War on Drugs?”
Remulla said.
