MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday recorded fewer new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among Filipinos abroad, with only two reported infected in the Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
There was also zero fatality registered by the agency.
As of this posting, the overall case count and death toll stood at 9,975 and 733, respectively.
The active cases, on the other hand, are pegged at 3,373 while the recoveries are now over 5,800. The active cases are mostly concentrated in the Middle East/Africa region where 2,350 Filipinos are undergoing treatment, followed by Europe with 501, the Asia Pacific with 362, and the Americas with 160.
In a statement, the agency called on Filipinos abroad for unity and cooperation as the world battles the pandemic.
“Echoing President (Rodrigo) Duterte’s message today in commemoration of Ninoy Aquino Day, the Department of Foreign Affairs, together with its Foreign Service Posts, calls on Filipino nationals across the globe to cooperate and work with host governments and local health authorities in order to keep themselves, their families, and communities safe,” it said.
