DOH registers 2,965 new COVID-19 cases; overall tally nears 200k

MANILA — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported 2,965 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, pushing the country’s national tally close to 200k or 197,164 to be exact.

That number still includes recoveries and fatalities but the DOH said once these are deducted, what remains is the active cases which now stand at 61,730.

Out of the day’s 2,965 infections, 1,575 were eportedly from Metro Manila, 237 from Negros Occidental, 151 from Laguna, 129 from Cavite, and 95 from Batangas.

It was however, slow day on recoveries. There were only 368 new survivors but nevertheless raised their number to 132,396.

Fatalities shot up to 3,038 after an additional 34 deaths the DOH said.

Worldwide cases

Worldwide, the number of the Covid-infections already reached 23,655,518 including 15,337,252  recoveries and 813,022 deaths.

The United States lead all countries on Covid-19 cases at 5,737,133 followed by Brazil (3,622,861), India (3,167,323), Russia (966,189), South Africa (611,450), Peru (600,438), Mexico (563,7050, Colombia (551,696), Spain (405,436), Chile (399,568), Iran (361,150), Argentina (350,854), United Kingdom (326,614), Saudi Arabia (308,654), Bangladesh (297,083), Pakistan (293,261), Italy (260,298), Turkey (259,692), France (244,854), Germany (234,853), and Iraq (207,985).
