NOT JUST ONE but 40 possible carriers of the dreaded novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) are now being traced following a recent grandiose wedding party, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has revealed.
The presidential daughter and mayor said that the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) will investigate the wedding party that breached the Covid-19 health protocols in Davao City, reputed to be one of the largest cities in the world by land area.
It is more than six times the size of Metro Manila and three times the size of Metro Cebu.
“Dunay meeting with the organizers na ihatag nila ang list for contact tracing. And napasa na sa contact tracing team (The city met with the organizers, where they were told to provide the list of those who attended the event. The list was also immediately passed to the contact tracing team),” Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview Friday with 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.
Earlier, the mayor said the city government was contemplating filing legal actions against the couple, whom she has yet to identify.
She assailed the “rich” family for holding the event even amid the Covid-19 pandemic and despite the wedding organizer’s warning.
Although the mayor did not identify anyone but Duterte-Carpio bluntly criticized some wealthy families who continue to defy with the government’s protocol.
Duterte-Carpio, however, stressed that she is not against the public holding of celebrations, especially birthday parties, but minimum health protocols must be observed, including the wearing of face masks, two-meter physical distancing, and handwashing with soap and water, or with alcohol, while in public areas.
