Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon

CASTING A MOIST EYE on the 2022 presidential race, Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon has blasted the envisioned revolutionary government by some rabid pro-Duterte supporters as “plain and simple dictatorship.”
The fast-talking senator pointed out that people will suffer under a revolutionary government that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte had encouraged to be discussed publicy, even among the men and women in uniform.
“That’s not going to be good for our country and we will lose the respect of the world. Our economy will go down, just as it did during the time of Mr. [Ferdinand] Marcos,” Gordon blurted out during his Wednesday interview with ANC.
Last week, the President dumped the proposed revolutionary government that his supporters were pushing for him to head.
But on Tuesday, he said this “should be discussed publicly” and talks should even include the military.
In Gordon’s view, a revolutionary government will allow it to “remove anybody… incarcerate anybody” by decree.
He strongly assailed the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte-National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC) for propagating the concept, saying the “RevGov” will pave the way for federalism.
“Palusot lang nila iyan (that’s just an excuse),” said Gordon. “Let the people decide on federalism in a plebiscite. You don’t need a revolutionary government for that.”
Duterte once charged Gordon with having a presidential ambition and a reliable source quoted the former Olongapo mayor saying that if he would be elected president by 2022, he would then be the country’s oldest president.
Gordon will be 76 years old by May 2022 presidential elections.
