DOH records 2,529 new COVID-19 cases; total now 234,570

MANILA — New cases of the coronavirus in the country were recorded by the Department of Health Saturday (05 August 2020) at 2,529, raising PH’s total caseload to 234,570 overall or since the outbreak of the virus.

Once again, outbreak epicenter the National Capital Region (Metro Manila) reported with the most number of new cases at 1,171.

Right next to NCR’s record for Saturday is Negros Occidental at 197, Laguna at 145, Cavite at 117 and Bulacan at 70.

Fatalities from the virulent disease increased 3,790 after 53 more mortalities were reported by the health department.

On the other hand, recoveries ballooned to 161,668 following an addition of 1,136 more survivors.

Out of the total cases reported by the DOH nationally, there are only 69,112 total active cases or patients battling it out to recover from the disease in different hospitals scattered nationwide.

Worldwide, over 26.17 million cases of the coronavirus were monitored by the World Health Organization including around 865,000 deaths.
