LIKE A FEARLESS AND CARING MOTHER, presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has clarified that the city government still continues to provide relief goods to distressed families and provide jobs to thousands of displaced workers due to the pandemic

The mayor noted that many are stll encountering difficulties in finding because the companies are not yet 100 percent operational under the MGCQ (Modified General Community Quarantine) and some may have also been laid off.

“Pwede ra kaayo sila mag request pinaagi sa atong Davao City Covid-19 Operations Center, Davao City Reports, or mag diretso sila sa CSWDO para mahatagan og grocery packs (They can make a request thru our Davao City Covid-19 Operations Center, Davao City Reports, or they can go directly to the City Social Welfare and Development Office so they can be given grocery packs),” Duterte-Carpio said in her weekly radio program.

It was learned that the Department of Labor and Employment in Davao Region reported that over 10,000 companies in the region have either partially or totally ceased their operations. This resulted in the retrenchment of more than 40,000 workers.

In a bid to provide relief for those who lost their jobs in the city, the City Government of Davao led by Duterte-Carpio has launched its Work for Davao program.

Some 42,915 workers stand to benefit with this short-term employment program by just doing community works for 10 working days from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, Mondays to Fridays for a daily wage of P396. (by Junex Doronio)
