MANILA – The Makati city government on Saturday urged suppliers of goods and services here to get accreditation from the city’s business permit and licensing office (BPLO) to earn various incentives and other merchant benefits under the Makati Assistance and Support for Businesses (MASB) Program.
“We urge suppliers of goods and services in Makati to register online now and take part in our efforts to reboot the local economy,” Mayor Abigal Binay said in a statement.
Merchants may register online via http://www.proudmakatizen.com to get accreditation.
“Once accredited, you will gain access to our new programs and incentives aimed to help local businesses recover from the pandemic and grow,” she said.
Under the MASB program, the city government will provide a grant ranging from PHP10,000 up to PHP100,000 worth of financial assistance to the businesses and entrepreneurs hard-hit by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Binay earlier said the city government targets to assist some 78,000 businesses registered in Makati.
The initiative is part of the city government’s efforts to revamp its business programs and push for economic recovery amid the health crisis.
“We recognize the urgent need to help business owners recover in order to sustain their operations,” she said.
Meanwhile, registered merchants could participate in the city’s promotion and marketing efforts to link businesses with potential customers, which will increase more trading sales.
They will also be included in the city-wide list of suppliers that are sourcing goods and other services.
Registered merchants could also get special rates at discounts from the Maka-Tindahan e-commerce portal (an online market).
The local government said the accredited merchants who are part of the city’s business database could automatically be involved in all programs and initiatives intended to promote trading activity in Makati. (PNA)
