MANILA – As part of the plan to protect buyers for the coming Christmas season, police has started installing additional closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) in select areas of bargain mecca Divisoria.
Aside from CCTV cameras, several public address speakers have also been installed the Manila Police District (MPD) said.
MPD Dagupan outpost Chief PSMS Gerardo Tubera said at least 16 hi-fidelity CCTV cameras have had been mounted high up electric posts along Recto Avenue, Dagupan street, and Elcano street.
Installation and the cost of the CCTV cameras and public address speaker system were donated by the Manila Chinese and Action Team (MCAT).
MCAT is made up of generous Filipino-Chinese businessmen who are always open to extend help to the local police and the city of Manila.
According to MCAT spokesperson Dr. Robert Sy, their group has been extending help since the outbreak of the coronavirus to the city of Manila behind the able leadership of Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso.
Relief that came from MCAT include hundreds of sacks of rice, 200 units of wheel chairs and other anti-coronavirus protective implements.
For his part, MPD Station Commander PLt. Col. Magno Gallora said the CCTV cameras will greatly augment their monitoring efforts of Divisoria 24/7.
