CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Central Luzon reported 258 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections based on the report of the Department of Health in Central Luzon’s (DOH-3) Center for Health Development (CHD) on Saturday.
This brought the total number of confirmed cases in the region to 11,583 with 1,354 active cases.
The new Covid-19 cases in the region came from Bulacan, with 128, followed by Pampanga with 49; Bataan, 32; Zambales, 25; Tarlac, 20; and Nueva Ecija, four.
Out of the total tally, Bulacan has the highest number of cumulative confirmed cases with 5,237.
Pampanga came in second with 2,314; Bataan, 2,100 ; Zambales, 842; Nueva Ecija, 582; Tarlac, 422; and Aurora, one.
The total number of cases exclude 85 repatriated overseas Filipino workers and health workers from the repatriation team.
The DOH-3 data also showed there are 208 more patients who recovered from the dreaded disease, bringing the total recoveries to 9,946.
The total number of recoveries include 3,704 asymptomatic patients who have been discharged after their 14-day quarantine period.
On the other hand, the total number of those who died from the disease reached 283.
Cesar Cassion, DOH-CLCHD regional director, reiterated his appeal to the residents to observe minimum health standards as much as possible, as the number of Covid-19 cases in the region is continuously rising.
He also cited the importance of cooperation of everyone to “win the battle” against the dreaded disease.
“We have to continue doing our civic duty to save our fellow Filipinos from this unseen enemy. Let us follow our local leaders, always observe the recommended minimum health standards, and get information from credible sources. Together, let us end this crisis and start living a healthy lifestyle,” Cassion said in a statement. (PNA)
