When biking in Quezon City, better wear a helmet or suffer the consequences and penalties.
On orders of city mayor Joy Belmonte, the city council crafted a pubic ordinance strictly requiring pedal pushers to come out equipped with proper biking helmets when riding.
Non-compliance will be meted with P1,000, P3,000, and P5,000 penalties on the first, second, and third offense, respectively.
Enforcement of which, the city government explained, is for bikers’ own safety especially in the “new normal” where biking is expected to be the most preferred mode of transportation.
