Operatives nab claimant of P1.5M worth of Kush marijuana in Cebu

Coordinated efforts from authorities led to the recovery of a concealed kush marijuana shipment valued at P1.5 million and the apprehension of the claimant.

The drug bust was made possible in proper coordination with Bureau of Customs-NAIA, PDEA Region 7, CIIS-Cebu, ESS-Cebu, BOC Intelligence Group  (IG) and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).

Records show that the subject cargo was declared as “Shisha,” shipped by a certain Richard Mrozek of Spain and consigned to a certain Mateo Abato of Cebu City.

It arrived in FedEx Warehouse on September 18, 2020.

Thru the vigilance and intensified profiling of BoC-NAIA frontliners, the subject cargo was found to contain Kush Marijuana, and immediately coordinated with PDEA, NAIA-IADITG for appropriate chemical laboratory analysis.

Thereafter, the subject cargo was confirmed as Kush Marijuana.

Consequently, PDEA Regional Office 7 and NAIA-IADITG with the CCPO-CIU, CIIS-Cebu, ESS-Cebu and BOC Intelligence Group, proceeded with the controlled delivery operations, which resulted in the apprehension of a certain Jan Robert Pareles at Asmara Urban Resort, 1 Paseo Saturnino St., Brgy. Banilad, Cebu City.

BOC-NAIA formally turned the seized illegal drugs to the PDEA last September 29, 2020 for further profiling and case build up against the importers and responsible persons for possible prosecution for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in relation to Section 1401 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

BOC-NAIA with the active partnership of PDEA and NAIA-IADITG shall further strengthen its anti-illegal drugs campaign in full support to the Intensified Border Protection Priority of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero.
