MANILA – A Mindanao archbishop on Tuesday expressed hope that President Rodrigo Duterte would continue doing his best to serve the country and the people.
“I congratulate the President (for) this survey (results). Too high and I hope he will continue to work more for the Filipinos,” Ozamiz Archbishop Martin Jumoad said in an interview.
Jumoad said the latest Pulse Asia survey results show that the public is satisfied with the government’s performance.
“The people have spoken. We cannot distort their observations,” the Ozamiz archbishop said.
He, meanwhile, urged those who do not believe the result of the survey to prove otherwise.
“Let those who question the result prove it is not the true sentiments of the people,” he added.
Based on the results of Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan survey conducted from Sept. 14 to 20 released on Monday, Duterte’s approval rating hit 91 percent, making him the most appreciated among the top government officials as the country continues to battle the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Duterte’s approval rating increased by 4 percentage points compared to the rating he received in December 2019.
The President enjoyed majority approval ratings across geographic areas and socio-economic classes, rising from 88 to 97 percent and 88 to 95 percent, respectively.
Duterte also enjoyed “sizeable to big majority trust rating” of 91 percent, a huge improvement from 83 percent he got from December’s Ulat ng Bayan of Pulse Asia.
Only 5 percent disapproved of his performance, while 5 percent were undecided. (PNA)
