A total of seventeen (17) new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Palawan following a swab testing activity that was conducted last week by health authorities.
Of the 17 recorded infections, four were from Puerto Princesa City and 13 in the municipality of Cuyo.
The four local transmissions were reported by the City Incident Management Team (CMIT) in Puerto Princesa City.
According to Dr. Dean Palanca, head of CMIT, the patients were identified through the samples taken from people whom they had contacts with and who were positive of the virus.
He also disclosed that the new cases were from barangays Sta. Monica, San Manuel, San Jose and Tiniguiban.
In Cuyo, Palawan, the local government reported 13 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting a swab test from 68 individuals who were identified as close contacts of the first local cases.
The patients are now under observation and were placed in the municipality’s isolation facilities.
At present, there is a total of 55 cases in the municipality and 31 of these are active cases. There were 24 patients recovered. Thirty-three from the total cases were imported and 22 were local cases.
The 12 local cases were from barangays Cabigsing, Bancal, Catadman, San Carlos, Tenga-Tenga, Suba and Brgy. Caponayan.
Local health officials are urging residents to continue to follow safety protocols like wearing face masks, hand washing and maintaining social distancing.
