Operations of the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila has indefinitely been suspended after seven (7) of its physicians tested positive for coronavirus.
This was confirmed by public information officer Dr. Diane Cajipe who said that operations of the state-run institution were suspended beginning Friday, October 23, 2020.
Admission of new patients was also suspended and so with Fabella’s outpatient services to give way to the disinfection of the facility.
“We are letting everyone know that, as of today, Fabella Hospital is stopping admission, both pregnant patients and infants,” said Cajipe.
“Even our Outpatient Division and other services, such as laboratory, ultrasound, X-ray, all are suspended until further notice,” Cajipe added.
Before the outbreak of Covid-19, Fabella is famous as a national special tertiary hospital for obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatric cases.
Suspension of said the suspension of operations will also pave the way for contact tracing and mass testing of all healthcare workers of Fabella Hospital.
“It will be difficult to identify the source of the infection. But one thing we know, based on evidence, is that they are the group of doctors that were on duty,” she said.
She added that the seven Covid-19 positive doctors are currently isolated although they are all asymptomatic. (Ismael Amigo)
