MANILA — The Department of Health has on Monday, 26 October 2020, reported one thousand six hundred seven (1,607) new cases of the coronavirus.
The number pushed the accumulated total of infections in the country to 371,630 even as the number of recoveries improved to 328,258 after the agency registered 245 new survivors.
Fatalities breached the 7k mark at 7,039 after a huge number of 62 deaths were recorded on Monday.
Active cases in the country or infected individuals still undergoing treatment in hospitals scattered throughout are pegged at 36,333.
Davao City logged the most number of Covid-19 positive cases among provinces and cities at 90, followed by Cavite, 88; Rizal, 74; while Negros Occidental and Quezon had 68 apiece.
The day’s figures showed that samples processed by testing laboratories dropped to just 15,710, way below the target of 30,000 tests a day.
The health agency said 16 testing laboratories were not able to submit their results to the department on time attributed to the weather condition on Monday.
Covid-19 testing in the country has somewhat slowed down over the past week as the Philippine Red Cross halted conducted tests for the government due to the massive debts incurred by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.
Worldwide, the virus has infected nearly 43 million people across the globe, with over 1.15 million deaths. (IAmigo)
