The Philippine National Police has on Friday acquired more police vehicles, watercraft, communication equipment and rifles through its modernization program under PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030.
PNP Chief, Police General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan witnessed and led the blessing and send-off of newly-acquired PNP equipment and police vehicles Friday morning in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
PNP Bids and Awards Committee Chairman Police Major General Emmanuel Luis Licup presented to the PNP Chief the newly procured equipment namely: 11 units shuttle buses, 22 units of high-speed tactical watercraft, 355 units of patrol jeeps (single cab) 4x2s, 5,767 units of Galil Ace 22N 5.56mm Basic Assault Rifle, and 214 units of VHF lowband handheld radio.
Cascolan said PNP’s latest procurement program was funded thru its Capability Enhancement Programs (CEPs) 2019 and 2020, and CEP 2019 balances with a total amount of P1,221,601,033.
The PNP Chief stressed that new 11 bus units will be distributed to Police Regional Offices as added transportation assets of their personnel for faster mobilization during essential programs and operations.
The PNP Maritime Group and the PNP Special Action Force will be issued the 22 units High-Speed Tactical Watercrafts to be utilized for preventive patrol and anti-criminality operations along coastal waters.
The new 355 units patrol jeeps (Single Cab 4×2) will be immediately distributed to different municipal police stations across the country to boost their police patrol operations as part of intensified security drive in communities in times of national health crisis.
The Police Mobile Forces will be the end-users of the 5,767 units Galil Ace 22N 5.56mm Basic Assault Rifle while the 214 units VHF Lowband Handheld Radio will be issued to Communications and Electronics Service, he added. Art Son / BENJAMIN CUARESMA
