LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Together with the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), the Department of Agirculture has on Friday, November 6, 2020, led the Turn-Over and Awarding Ceremony of Agricultural Machineries to the Farmers Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) of Pangasinan at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.
A total of 64 four-wheel tractors, two recirculating dryers, and two multi-pass rice mills were given to 24 farmers’ associations and cooperatives in Pangasinan to increase the efficiency and production of farming operations in the province.
DA Secretary William D. Dar disclosed that the farm machineries were part of PhilMech’s PHP515-million budget allotment this year under the Philippine Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).
He extended his gratitude to the farmers and acknowledged their bravery and diligence even in the midst of the pandemic, they still continue to farm, fish and trade.
Pangasinan Second District Representative Jumel Anthony I. Espino reminded recipients to nurture and preserve the farm machineries that were given to them.
Provincial Governor Amado I. Espino in his message recognized the DA’s continuous support to the agricultural sector of the province.
He also thanked the members of the farmer’s cooperative of the province for their steadfast support.
The farm machineries given by the government will modernize the farming process and reduce labor cost. It will also speed up land cultivating and sowing.
Secretary Dar urged farmers who are not members of cooperatives to join in order to receive benefits and support from the national government.
