DOH registers 1,530 new COVID-19 cases

MANILA — The Department of Health on Sunday registered 1,530 new positive cases of Covid-19, pushing the national tally to 407,838 of accumulated number of cases since the coronavirus outbreak in March this year.

The DOH said the highest increase on infections Sunday came from Cavite province with 90 more patients. This was followed by Ulysses typhoon-hit Rizal with 84, the City of Manila with 79, Davao City with 78, and Taguig City with 73.

For the second straight week, the DOH announced anew a high number of recoveries. On Sunday, the DOH logged 11,290 new survivors from the disease.

The number translates into a high 91.8 percent of heals which now stand at 374,429 overall or nationwide.

The COVID-19 death toll, meanwhile, hit 7,832 with 41 new fatalities.

Less the death toll and the number of recoveries, the active cases or patients under treatment nationwide from the virus is now peg only at 25,677.

The health agency also indicated that of these currently ill patients, 82.5 percent are experiencing mild symptoms, 8.4 percent have no symptoms, 5.6 percent are in critical condition, 3.2 percent are severe cases, while 0.2 percent are moderate cases. (ia)
