DUMAGUETE CITY – The provincial government of Negros Oriental has recorded more recoveries from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) even as more positive infections continue with local transmissions.
Assistant provincial health officer Dr. Liland Estacion, the incident commander of the province’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), in a press briefing Thursday afternoon said the latest report included 26 recoveries and 21 new confirmed cases.
The 26 recoveries are from Guihulngan (21); La Libertad (three); and Siaton (two).
On the other hand, the new positive infections are from Sta. Catalina (six); Guihulngan City (five); Zamboanguita (two); Sibulan, Mabinay, Basay, Bayawan City, Tanjay City, Dauin, Amlan, and Bais City (one each).
The patient from Bais had tested positive in the neighboring province of Negros Occidental and was picked up and brought to her home city, Estacion said.
As of Thursday, the total Covid-19 positive cases in Negros Oriental has reached 517, to include 348 recoveries, 155 active positive infections, and 14 deaths, she said.
The active positive cases are from Guihulngan City (43); Sta. Catalina (28); Bayawan (27); Bacong, Dumaguete City, Ayungon, and Sibulan (six each); La Libertad (8); Siaton and Mabinay (four each); Zamboanguita and Canlaon City (three each); Amlan, Tanjay City, Bais City, and Tayasan (two each); Basay, Dauin, and Valencia (one each).
The province is awaiting 391 results with a total of 12,663 swab tests done as of latest count, Estacion said. (PNA)
