PACC launches probe vs BOC over 11 containers of smuggled cigarettes

The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) chair Dante Jimenez (left, above photo) said his agency will launch an investigation against Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials who allowed entry of smuggled items to favor a certain broker.

In a press conference in Intramuros, Manila on Friday, Jimenez told the media said that case involved are 11 containers of smuggled imported cigarette that were seized by the BOC Intelligence and Investigation Service belonging to broker Ocean World Enterprises.

Jimenez said that an initial investigation of the PACC revealed that prior to the seizure of the 11 containers, a total of 85 entries comprised of hundreds of containers belonging to OWE have been released by the BOC.

Intent of the PACC investigation is to prove whether there really exist collusion or corruption or not between officials of the BOC and broker OWE.
