MANILA — HOUSE Senior Deputy Minority Leader Janette Loreto-Garin on Saturday assailed what she described “as another attempt to mislead and condition the public’s mind” after it was reported that a court has released a warrant for her arrest.

“One paper known for notoriously hitting me first posted it and some local journalists who are just waiting to attack, pounced on the chance to malign me without verifying. No warrant of arrest has been issued,” Garin, a former DOH chief secretary and now Iloilo Representative, said.

“The Court document stated: “The record shows that some accused, namely Dr. Janette L. Garin, Stanislas Camart, Jean Louis Grunwald, Jean Francois Vacherand have not yet filed their bail bonds. They are directed to inform the Court if they have already filed their bail bond in other Courts and furnish this Court a copy of the Courts order approving their bond so that the Court can likewise approve the same without them filing a new bail bond within 3 days from receipt of this order, otherwise a warrant of arrest will be issued against them,” Garin explained.

According to Garin, the court document also noted that the bail bonds she posted before Muntinlupa City; Imus, Cavite and other courts are already considered filed before the Quezon City court.

“If the Court missed my records, I will furnish them a copy of my documents. Walang katotohanan na kami o ako ay pinapahuli sapagkat sumusunod ang ating mga korte at mga hukom sa proseso ng tunay na hustisya,” the lady lawmaker added.

Garin recalled that the first batch of the cases filed against her, in connection with the controversial procurement of Dengvaxia vaccines, were dismissed already, and there is only one case that is yet to be resolved.

“Let us be wary with news that tends to condition the public to sow hatred and form negative opinions about others. Science and truth are on our side. We continuously pray for justice,” she pointed out.

Meanwhile, Garin is appealing to everyone not to demonize the use of vaccines particulary during this time of COVID-19 pandemic “when our only hope for returning to normal is the development of a vaccine.”

“Huwag na patulan o i-sensationalize ng media ang isyung walang katotohanan at walang batayan. Huwag natin takutin ang mga tao sa bakuna dahil sa ngayon, sa bakuna nakasalalay ang ating pamumuhay at mismong mga buhay,” stressed Garin. (AI/MTVN)
