MANILA – Once more, the deadly, unseen enemy struck the Senate of the Philippines with its latest victim Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa who has tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“I’m sorry to inform you that I tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday. To all who made contact with me, please do the appropriate protocols,” Dela Rosa said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

The former top cop added that aside from him, four members of his household, including his daughter, tested positive for SARS-COV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19.

In a text message to media, Dela Rosa said that he is currently experiencing a cough.

“May ubo lang ako. Four kami [from d household nagpositive. Me, my eldest daughter, driver and househelp,” Dela Rosa said.

Before his infection, Dela Rosa has asked the national government to increase the budget for the Marawi City rebuilding effort.

“It has been three years since government declared the liberation of thousands of families from the Maute group but our brothers and sisters are still struggling for permanent shelter,” he lamented.

Dela Rosa is the fifth senator to have been afflicted with Covid-19, after Senators Sonny Angara, Koko Pimentel, Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Bong Revilla. (AI/MTVN)
