In one of their photos, it showed that they were accompanied by Star Magic handler Alan Real and road manager na si Wheng Corpuz. The Star Magic is the talent management arm of ABS-CBN.
Fans of Popoy and Basha got excited as they thought their meeting would be for a reunion project. But the truth is, Lloydie and Bea were both guests in a private gathering and it has nothing to do with any project.
Thess Gubi of Star Magic confirmed that the event they attended was for the birthday celebration of actress Dimples Romana. It was held in Batangas and was organized by Dimples husband Boyet Ahmee.
“It was Boyet’s surprise party for Dimples, who celebrated her 36th birthday on November 13,” explained Thess.
Thess also confirmed that the Star Magic handler and road manager of Dimples were in another picture of Bea and John Lloyd.
John Lloyd, Bea, and Dimples have remained friends since they worked together in the iconic romance-drama movie na “One More Chance” in 2007.
Movie reunion postponed
Fans were already giddy as they thought that their idols would have another project, the reason why they met in Batangas.
It was reported by Philippine Entertainment Portal in October that John Lloyd and Bea would be paired anew in a film to be produced by ABS-CBN Films to be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
But it was postponed because the shoot would be done in Florence, Italy and it is not yet possible at this time due to pandemic.
John Lloyd and Bea are prized tandem of ABS CBN but Lloydie has not been active in showbiz for the past three years since he filed an “indefinite leave” from Star Magic in October 2017.
It was only lately when the actor made his presence felt that he is going back to television and reports said that he would be doing a family sitcom on TV5 to be produced by Brightlight Productions owned by former Negros Occidental Third District Representative Albee Benitez.
Bea and John Lloyd were paired in eight movies and seven TV series which they did on ABS-CBN since 2002 until 2015.
In 2016, there was a rumor that the two were drawn to each other after they got separated from their respective relationships then.
But they stood firm that they are only friends and there is no truth that they are falling for each other.
In April 2020, fans of the John Lloyd and Bea became giddy again after they exchanged cute messages on Instagram in John Lloyd’s account @dumpsitegallery and Bea’s @beaalonzo.
It was followed by Bea’s Instagram Live where she was talking to John Lloyd while the actress’ followers were watching.
They even happily re-enacted their unforgettable scenes in “One More Chance.”
It was also the time John Lloyd introduced his son Elias to Bea.
The virtual interactions of the perennial loveteam was part of the unconfirmed cinema project of writer Antoinette Jadaone and project producers Dan Villegas, Erwin Romulo, at Philbert Dy.
Before the pandemic and the enforced quarantine in the country, there were several sightings of John Lloyd and Bea off cam.
On February 14, they had a collab for a live script reading of the film “That Thing Called Tadhana” on Ayala Triangle, Makati City.
But nine days before that event, they were sighted in a restaurant also in Makati. On February 15, John Lloyd, Bea, were together again and met Baron Geisler in a restaurant. The three worked together in a project of Kapamilya’s TV series “It Might Be You.”
Last July, Bea sent birthday greetings to John Lloyd and even said that the actor should treat her to a blowout when they meet again next time.
Despite John Lloyd and Bea’s relationship with their respective partners, which all failed, their fans are still praying for the two of them to end not just as good friends but as a couple. (Evelyn Diao)
