MANILA – Olympics-bound gymnast and world floor exercise gold medalist Carlos Edriel Yulo got a rare chance to mingle with top officials of the International Olympic Committee and organizers of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Friday as he took part in a tour at the Olympic Stadium and Village in Tokyo, Japan.
The 19-year old PH bet for its first-ever gold is in deep training for next year’s Olympics in Japan. He got the rare opportunity meeting no less than IOC president Thomas Bach, International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) president Morinari Watanabe and Japan Olympic Committee president Yasuhiro Yamashita.
In a Facebook post by the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines, Yulo was shown being part of the tour on the facilities that will be used in the Tokyo Olympics that was moved to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yulo is currently in Japan as part of the agreement between the Olympic host country and Philippines for training and preparations for the Olympics.
Yulo qualified to the quadrennial games after winning a gold medal in the Artistic Gymnastics World Championship last year.
The Filipino gymnast was also studying while continuing his training in Japan. (AI/MTVN)
