MANILA — Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Sunday gave an assurance that construction of the first-ever overseas Filipino workers (OFW) hospital in Pampanga will be finished and operational by December 2021.
According to Bello, construction of the medical facility will remain on track despite the threat of quarantine measures imposed to control the outbreak of the coronavirus.
“Construction of the project will stay on schedule,” Bello said.
Bello added that the project is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s aspiration for OFWs to have their own hospital by Christmas of 2021.
According to the contractors — though they originally set for completion of the project in April next year — the hospital can still be finished by December 2021.
Bello led the signing of the usufruct agreement between the Provincial Government of Pampanga and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the construction of the first-ever OFW hospital in the country in Barangay Sindalan, San Fernando, Pampanga.
Bello signed for DOLE in the usufruct while Vice Governor Lilia Pineda signed for the Pampanga Provincial Government. (AI/MTVN)
