CAMP BGEN SALIPADA K PENDATUN, Parang, Maguindanao – Through the intensified intelligence operation of combined government forces, three members of the Islamic State-inspired Bangsamoro Freedom Fighters (BIFF) have surrendered to authorities over the weekend.
Believed to be under Kumander Cosme group, the three voluntarily surrendered to PRO BAR authorities.
Government authorities now uses a multi-pronged approach backstopped by the Bangsamoro Task Force on Ending Local Armed Conflict (BTF-ELAC) under the Executive Order 70 or the National Task Force Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
It employs a whole-of-nation approach in attaining sustainable peace in coordination with the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in its adherence to this executive order that continues to explore holistic approaches to protect people from joining the insurgency movement.
Through the intensified intelligence information operation of RID, PROBAR, RIU 15, PNP SAF and DIPO- Western Mindanao, three (3) members of Islamic State-inspired Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters PBGen. Samule P. Rodriguez, Regional Director, PRO BAR identified the three surrenderees under Karialan faction of Commander Cosme only with their aliases Nor, Pikot and Giyad.
The three also surrendered to authorities three (3) Rocket-Propelled grenade launcher and three (3) ammunitions.
The surrenderees have accordingly grown tired of being exploited by their former BIFF comrades and they intentionally surrendered to the authorities of PRO BAR to finally resist armed struggle and accept the government’s goodwill offer for them to return to the fold of the law through Executive Order 70.
The government encourages other members and leaders of BIFF to surrender for the attainment of peace in the Bangsamoro Region. They will be supported by the government to start a new life, live in harmony and believe in the government that provides for its people. (AI/MTVN)
