TO CURB THE UNSEEN DEADLY ENEMY, presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has resolved to enforce granular lockdown or “barangay, purok, or compound lockdown” on areas with clustered Covid-19 transmission.
“Dili tibuok siyudad ang i-ECQ [enhanced community quarantine], but ang certain areas lang nga dunay clustering of cases ug naay taas nga transmission of cases, nga makita didto based on sa addresses sa mga confirmed positive patients, (The entire city will not be put under ECQ but only in certain areas where there are high transmission of cases based on the addresses of confirmed positive patients),” Duterte-Carpio said on Friday.
The spunky mayor also clarified that the city has never allowed confirmed Covid-19 patients to undergo home quarantine but admitted there were some delays in transporting patients to temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMFs).
“Kabalo ta tanan na walay policy sa Davao City na i-home quarantine ang positive. I never said na okay lang ang home quarantine sa positive cases (The public knows that it is not the city’s policy to have positive patients go under home quarantine. I never said it is okay for them to go on home quarantine),” Duterte-Carpio stressed.
She also apologized for not speaking up immediately because she said the public is aware that the City has never recommended that positive patients go on home isolation.
“There may have been positive patient nga wala makuha dayon (that are not being transferred immediately.) It took us several days,” Duterte-Carpio said.
She cited the previous complaints of long queues inside the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) isolation as patients would have to be assessed first by the doctors.
Duterte-Carpio admitted that there is a “systematic problem” in the implementation of a house lockdown, resulting in the delay of the provision of assistance to affected households. (AI/MTVN)
