MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno has been chosen “Man of the Year” of Asia Leaders Award 2020 in recognition to Moreno’s tireless and creative leadership since he took office in May 2019 and during this time of the pandemic.
Given out on Friday night, the Awards is bestowed by a group of top Filipino achievers in different fields who gather together every year to choose their pick of who have excelled in their fields of endeavor.
This year’s theme was “Real Leaders Are Shining More in Times of Pandemic,” which in some respect exactly dovetails Moreno’s style of governance.
The awarding ceremony was held at the hotel Shangrila in Makati Friday night, attended by top personalities from different profession and business sectors.
Moreno proved to be the hands down choice owing to his hands-on governance amid the pandemic.
He is first to establish the first Covid-19 hospital in Metro Manila, 16 temporary quarantine facilities, several PCR-RPT drive-thru test sites, first anti infection laboratory approved by the DOH and WHO, hard lockdowns of areas identified with high volume of infected individuals, online medical consultation, financial support to its resident, gradual opening of businesses, and many more.
In an interview, Moreno admitted that he is very proud to be picked for the second time as top awardee of prestigious award giving group.
During his speech, he thanked the Leaders Awards committee for choosing him and vowed to work harder to meet the expectation of the Manilenyos especially in time of pandemic. (AI/MTVN)
