CAMP CRAME — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief PGen Debold Sinas has on Sunday designated the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) to “lead the charge” in the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the PNP.

“Because the anti-illegal drugs program is a national crusade, then it shall be among the flagship law enforcement campaigns of the PNP,” Sinas said as he cited the latest operational accomplishment of PDEG in the anti-drug drive with the arrest of a couple in Lanao del Sur this afternoon for drug trafficking.

A report received by Sinas, while on an official regional sortie in the Visayas, from newly-installed PDEG Director Police Brigadier General Ronald Lee said the one (1) kilogram of Shabu worth approximately P6.8-million based on standard estimates of the Dangerous Drugs Board was confiscated from the suspects.

Busran Saripada Busran a.k.a Commander Manong, 64, and wife Monira Alipapa Ampatua,  46, where arrested in a buy bust operation launched by the PDEG Special Operations Unit (SOU)-9 in Purok 2, Barangay West Kilikili, Wao, Lanao del Sur around 2 p.m. Saturday.

According to Lee, the PDEG operatives were ably backed up by personnel from the Wao Municipal Police Station and 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of Lanao Del Sur Police Provincial Office.

The suspects will be presented before the prosecutor this week for inquest proceedings for violation of RA 9165, Lee said. (AI/MTVN)
