Good news in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 148 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries to 399,457 or 91.5 percent of all Covid-19 cases.
In addition, the country tallied reported 934 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest since 603 cases were announced on July 14.
The fresh cases increased the active number of cases to 28,379 or 6.5 percent of all COVID-19 cases in the country.
Quezon City reported the highest number of new cases with 75, followed by Laguna with 59, Baguio City, Bulacan, and Davao City with 34 each.
In another important fight, this time against corruption, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Commission on Audit (COA) would augment the Office of the Ombudsman’s (OMB) shortage of manpower with deputized resident ombudsmen in corruption-prone government offices, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Friday.
He added that Task Force Against Corruption (TFAC) “also noted that several agencies had created or strengthened their internal anti-corruption mechanisms”.
Guevarra said the TFAC, in its meeting on Wednesday, approved the guidelines and parameters proposed by the DOJ-created operations center for the evaluation and investigation of corruption complaints, including guidelines on how to deal with complaints affecting other branches of government, as well as local government units.
