TARLAC – A drug buy-bust operation in Nueva Ecija turned into a bloody encounter on Sunday, leading to the death of two suspected drug peddlers and the wounding one of the operatives of the San Jose City Police Station.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 3, the buy-bust operation at Brgy. Sto. Niño 1st in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija turned bloody when the suspects refused to surrender.
The suspects who were killed were identified as Bryan Leonile Dris Valdez and Hymer Leung Corne while the wounded operative was in the person of Police Corporal Mark Joseph Tangonan who suffered a gunshot wound on his left shoulder.
According to the report, one suspects managed to escape during the gun battle.
The police recovered one caliber .38 revolver (improvised), one caliber .22 pistol (improvised), fifteen 9 mm bullet casings, one heat sealed transparent sachet containing suspected shabu and one white Honda City with plate no. AAS-9301.
“The operation goes to show that we are committed in our ongoing war against illegal drugs and we will continue to be relentless in our campaign at all costs,” said PRO3 Regional Director Police BGen. Valeriano De Leon. (AI/FC/MTVN)
