NoCot denies alleged suicide cases due to Covid-19 restraints

COTABATO CITY – Health authorities in North Cotabato are investigating reports circulating on social media about suicide cases due to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and cases related to difficulty in distance learning.

Dr. Philbert Malaluan, North Cotabato Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19 spokesperson, quickly denied the report but said health officials are investigating and validating it.

As of Monday, he said, there was also no truth that some school children have committed suicide due to difficulty in blended learning or modular classes.

“There’s no truth to that report as of today,” said Malaluan, also a member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, adding that the Department of Health and the Integrated Provincial Health Office are also investigating the report.

Since January this year, the province has not reported any such case in connection to Covid-19 restrictions nor the difficulty in adopting modular classes in distance learning, he added. (PNA)
