CIDG intensified campaign vs loose firearms nets 7

MANILA — Through its intensified campaign against loose firearms, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region has arrested seven individuals, including the editor of Manila Today for possession of firearms, explosives and ammunition in Mandaluyong City.

Arrested were Lady Anne  Salem, editor of Manila Today, Mark Ryan Cruz, Romina Raiselle Astudillo, Jaymie Gregorio, Dennise Velasco, Joel Demate and Rodrigo Esparago.

The suspects’ houses were searched by virtue of search warrants issued by Cecilyn E. Burgos-Villavert, Executive Judge of RTC Branch 89 in Quezon City while the separate operations were witnessed by barangay officials.

They will face charges for violation of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law and RA 9516 or Illegal Possession of Explosives. (AI/FC/MTVN)
