TACLOBAN CITY – At least 1,497 job order workers and 348 contracts of service employees of the city government here will receive a PHP6,000 grant this holiday season.
Vice Mayor Jerry Yaokasin on Friday said the granting of financial benefit, as approved during their session on Dec. 9, will come from the savings under the General Fund of the local government.
“This is one way to recognize the efforts of our employees here as they worked hard to deliver the basic government services to the communities, especially during the pandemic,” Yaokasin said in an interview.
The resolution directs the release of cash aid on or before Dec. 23 just in time for the Christmas celebration.
The official emphasized the need to provide cash assistant to non-regular workers of the local government since they are not entitled to a year-end bonus.
The city council also approved the grant of PHP2,000 financial assistance each to 1,380 village officials, 218 village health workers, 138 village nutrition scholars, and 138 village service point officers, according to Yaokasin.
During the recent session, the city council approved the PHP1.86 billion Annual Investment Program for 2021 and the PHP1.4 billion local expenditures program for next year. (PNA)
