CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – More recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) were reported in Central Luzon on Friday compared to its new infections.
The latest case bulletin of the Department of Health – Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH-CLCHD) showed 266 new recoveries as against 177 new cases reported in the region.
This brought the total number of recoveries in Central Luzon to 21,159 or 88.1 percent out of the total 24,026 cases.
The DOH-CLCHD also reported 1,976 active cases or 8.2 percent of the total number of patients.
Of these, 1,194 are mild cases, 728 are asymptomatic, 46 are severe, and eight in critical condition.
On the other hand, the DOH-CLCHD said the total number of those who succumbed to Covid-19 in the region is 891, which is 3.7 percent of the total caseload.
Of the 177 new infections, Bulacan has 57; Pampanga (56); Bataan (21); Angeles City (17); Nueva Ecija (14); Olongapo City (5); Tarlac (4); and Zambales (3).
Aurora has zero Covid-19 cases.
The DOH-CLCHD reminded the public anew not to be complacent and to strictly observe the health and safety protocols, especially during the holidays.
DOH 3 (Central Luzon) Director Cesar Cassion earlier asked the region’s local government units (LGUs) to strictly implement the minimum public health standards (MPHS) to prevent a post-holiday surge of Covid-19 cases.
Cassion also called on the LGUs to intensify public risk communication by disseminating public health campaigns and issuing holiday advisories for MPHS adherence at home, closed settings, workplace settings, and public places.
He sought the strict implementation of the prohibition on mass gatherings, especially in high-risk areas, noting that LGUs must prepare plans and health systems to prevent a surge in Covid-19 infections. (PNA)
