TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RITF) has agreed not to place the city under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) yet despite the rise in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases here.
In a press briefing conducted on Friday, the RITF said it reached the decision after Mayor Jefferson Soriano assured that the city will do its best to stop the spike in COVID-19 incidents.
“We will implement a stricter health protocol and we will be firm in applying it in order for residents to follow,” said Soriano.
Soriano said the city government will also set stricter measures for visitors from nearby areas to avoid the spread of the virus.
If the city government fails to arrest the increase until Dec. 20, Soriano said they will voluntarily place the city under MECQ.
As of Saturday, there are currently 96 active COVID-19 cases in the city.(FC/MTVN)
