ILOILO CITY – Qualified employees of the city government here are entitled to a PHP20,000 incentive this yuletide season.
The bonus consists of PHP15,000 provided under the collective negotiation agreement (CNA) and PHP5,000 Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI).
Both were contained in Supplemental Budget No. 11 amounting to PHP205.56 million that was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) in its regular session on Dec.10.
Of the total fund, PHP9.185 million was allotted for PEI while PHP27.555 million will go to CNA incentive.
Rudy Catahay, president of the Resource Employees Association of City Hall (REACH), announced during Monday’s regular flag raising ceremony that the ordinance providing for the incentive is just waiting for the signature of Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon and Mayor Jerry Treñas.
He added REACH will be issuing a certification to all city hall offices relative to their claim of the bonus once it is signed.
Meanwhile, Treñas, in his message expressing gratefulness to the City Finance Committee, said should there be no health pandemic, the local government could have given higher.
“Jinny (Hirmano) is a very conservative treasurer,” Treñas said, adding he always makes sure the city government will not spend more than its income.
The collection this year is a bit good, thus the city was able to grant the CNA, he said.
Treñas added the release of the incentive is necessary because employees also need funds amid the pandemic.
Last year, the city government approved a PHP47.224-million budget for the yuletide benefits of its over 2,000 regular employees.
Apart from the CNA incentive, however, last year’s benefits also included the PHP5,000 PEI; and Service Recognition Incentive. (PNA)
