Extension of Bayanihan 2 funds’ availability gets House nod
MANILA – The House of Representatives on Monday night approved on final reading a measure seeking to extend the availability of funds under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2).
With 179 affirmative votes, 6 negative votes, and no abstention, the chamber passed on third reading House Bill 8063, which extends the availability of Bayanihan 2 funds from December 19, 2020 until June 30, 2021, as the country continues to grapple with the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
The third reading approval came after it was approved on second reading on the same day.

MANILA – Given his track record, Malacanang on Monday assured that President Rodrigo Duterte won’t allow “dubious items” in the 2021 national budget.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made this assurance in reaction to Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson warning regarding “dubious items” in the proposed 2021 national budget, particularly the budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Roque, however, assured that Duterte will thoroughly review the proposed budget and veto unconstitutional provisions if necessary.
Meanwhile, Roque expressed hope that Congress would finally transmit the proposed budget this week.
If the proposed budget would be transmitted late, he said Palace officials might have to spend the rest of the holidays reviewing the budget.
Roque said the country could not afford to have another reenacted budget, especially amid the prevailing pandemic.
