QCPD conducts simulation exercise on anti-terror and crisis management

MANILA — Members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) conduct a simulation exercise (SIMEX) on anti-terrorism and crisis management at Araneta Center in Quezon City on Tuesday, highlighting a suicide bombing scenario to increase public awareness and security preparedness.

The SIMEX started at around 9 a.m. when an “explosion” happened in a food park inside the Araneta Center complex wherein an unidentified male person posing as customer “detonated” an explosive device inside a garbage bin.

The Security Guards on duty immediately called members of the Station 7 Tactical Motorized Rider Unit (TMRU), who were at the area for motorcycle patrol. The incident was then reported to the QCPD command center, which alerted other disaster response units such as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Quezon City Red Cross.

Personnel of the QCPD Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit and K-9 dogs were immediately deployed to the area of the incident to conduct initial investigation. (FC/MTVN)
