LAOAG CITY – Some eight brand new patrol cars of the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be visible along the major thoroughfares of Ilocos Norte as these were turned over on Thursday to selected local government units.
These are the towns of Badoc, Banna, Carasi, Marcos, Pinili, San Nicolas, Solsona, and Dumalneg. The recipient municipalities were represented by their mayors and chief of police during the ceremonial turn-over ceremony here.
Funded by the national government, the distribution of police cars in various parts of the country is part of the PNP modernization program.
Following the ceremonial turn-over and blessing of the new PNP patrol cars held at the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office Grandstand, Col. Christopher N. Abrahano, provincial director of the INPPO, on Friday said he is grateful for the additional mobility assets to help aid in ensuring a peaceful and orderly province.
Abrahano likewise thanked Senator Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos who played a big role in approving the PNP budget.
On the part of police personnel who will be using the new vehicles, they said riding on them is a big boost to their morale as some of their mobility assets are already old and dilapidated.
Early on, the INPPO also received two brand new Montero Sports police cars courtesy of the provincial government of Ilocos Norte.
The said vehicles will be used to escort tourists and in increase police visibility in various tourism destinations of Ilocos Norte.
“The patrol vehicles were requested by the PNP to the provincial government before and we are thankful that finally, they are here,” Abrahano said. (PNA)
