MANILA — For the first time since November 29, the country surpassed the 2,000-level when it logged 2,122 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.
With the fresh cases, the country’s total number of COVID-19 cases increased to 456,562.
The daily tally did not include data from four laboratories that failed to submit on time.
According to the DOH, Quezon City had the highest number of new cases with 160, followed by Rizal (105), Bulacan (91), Makati City (83) and Davao City (79).
The DOH also recorded 778 new recoveries, bringing the total number of COVID-19 survivors in the country to 420,666.
Additional 25 deaths were recorded, increasing the death toll to 8,875.
Currently, the country has 27,021 active cases, 84 percent of which are mild cases, 7 percent are asymptomatic, while 5.1 percent are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the worldwide COVID-19 tally is nearly 75 million with almost 1.66 million deaths. (FC/MTVN)
